A wedding photographers view of a religious wedding

Call me a romantic, but I absolutely love photographing religious wedding ceremonies. While I’m not religious myself, there’s something profoundly moving about the spiritual significance these moments hold for the couple and their families. As a wedding photographer, it’s often a deeply emotional experience, and I’ll admit, I’ve found myself wiping away tears more than once – not ideal when you’re trying to keep the viewfinder clear! But it’s these raw, heartfelt moments that make documentary wedding photography so special.

Rebecca and Mark’s wedding was a perfect example. They tied the knot at the stunning St. James’s Church, Crypt on the Green in London – a breathtaking venue full of color, light, and life. The church was alive with energy, especially as the congregation sang with full voice. The beauty of the ceremony and the emotion of the moment was enough to bring a lump to my throat. It was a privilege to capture these moments through the lens of my camera.

The surrounding EC1R area of London, with its charming Victorian streets and historic architecture, was the perfect backdrop for their urban wedding portraits. There’s something magical about the way old-world charm meets modern love, and we definitely made the most of the unique setting.

This wedding was truly international – with guests flying in from all corners of the globe, including Australia, Germany, Switzerland, Peru, Singapore, Spain, and beyond. It was a wonderful blend of cultures and traditions, which made the celebration even more special.

The speeches were a highlight, especially the heartfelt words from Mark’s father, a proud Pastor, who spoke with such warmth and emotion. But the biggest surprise came during the first dance – a stunning 5-minute routine that blended swing, jive, tango, and even disco. It was nothing short of incredible, and as a wedding photographer, it was a joy to capture those unforgettable moments.

As a documentary wedding photographer, it’s moments like these – full of emotion, culture, and celebration – that make my work so meaningful. I’m honored to tell the story of such a beautiful day, one frame at a time.
