When Rebecca and Mark tied the knot at Bisham Abbey in Marlow, it wasn’t just a wedding — it was a stunning blend of cultures, with family and friends traveling from all over the globe to celebrate. With the groom’s family coming from both near and far, and the bride’s Scottish relatives journeying across great distances, this intimate gathering was truly a worldwide affair.
As a wedding photographer, my approach with couples is always to focus on what’s most important to them. For Rebecca and Mark, this meant capturing candid, heartfelt moments throughout their day. During our pre-wedding consultation, we discussed their desire for a documentary-style approach to their photography, something I always love to incorporate. This style of wedding photography allows me to tell the real story of the day through natural, unposed moments, and it was the perfect fit for this couple.
However, with so many family members traveling from afar, Rebecca and Mark also wanted to make sure they had some more traditional, formal shots. So, we took advantage of the stunning setting at Bisham Abbey, with its grand steps and beautiful backdrop, to capture those essential group photos. As we snapped away, guests from the nearby riverwalk looked on, adding a touch of fun and spontaneity to the atmosphere.
As for Rebecca and Mark, though they mentioned feeling a bit uncomfortable in front of the camera, there was no need for concern. When you have two people so deeply in love, all it takes is to put them together, step back, and let the magic unfold. On that slightly overcast July day by the River Thames, their love was palpable in every frame, and as their candid wedding photographer, it was a true joy to capture it all.
The evening entertainment was nothing short of spectacular. A ceilidh band had everyone on their feet, dancing with enthusiasm and abandon. A candid wedding photographer’s dream, though also a challenge, as the energetic dancing created a whirlwind of movement that kept me on my toes (literally)! The guests were soon sweating and panting as the traditional Scottish ceilidh dance brought even more energy and fun to the celebration.
Every wedding is unique, but Rebecca and Mark’s day at Bisham Abbey was one of those days where everything just came together beautifully — a wonderful mix of cultures, a perfect setting, and a love story that was so easy to capture. Another unforgettable experience as a **wedding photographer**, and a day I’ll always treasure.
